Recap: Chicago vs. New York

Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Nate Robinson scored a season-high 35 points and nailed five 3-pointers to lead six Chicago players in double figures as the Bulls ended the New York Knicks' 13-game winning streak with a 118-111 overtime victory on Thursday.

Jimmy Butler and Carlos Boozer each recorded double-doubles with 22 points and 14 rebounds and 13 points and 15 boards, respectively, for the Bulls, who became the second team to snap two 13-plus game winning streaks in the same season (Suns in 1990-91). Chicago also ended the Miami Heat's impressive 27- game win streak on March 27.

"The switch went on and he took the game over," Boozer said of Robinson's play.

Luol Deng, who had missed the previous two games due to injury, supplied 16 points and eight rebounds, while Richard Hamilton and Kirk Hinrich had 14 and 11 points, respectively, in the victory.

Carmelo Anthony scored 36 points and has a six-game streak of netting at least that many points. Kobe Bryant is the last player to accomplish such a feat, doing so in nine straight games in 2003.

J.R. Smith added 28 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, while Anthony pulled down a season-high 19 boards for the Knicks, who defeated Washington on Tuesday to clinch the Atlantic Division title for the first time since 1994.

New York was searching for its longest winning streak since a 15-game run from March 1 to April 2, 1994.

"There is no shame in losing a streak like that," added New York coach Mike Woodson.

Robinson, who supplied eight of his team's 13 points in extra time, opened up the period with a three-point play. Deng then followed with a triple -- in between Anthony's put-back -- and the lead soon swelled to seven following Smith's technical foul with just over two minutes to play.

Robinson's running layup with just 1:36 remaining made it 114-107, all but allowing Chicago to hold on for the win, which also gave the team its first four-game sweep of the Knicks since the 2003-04 campaign.

Trailing by nine with 5:42 to play in regulation, the Knicks chipped away to get within 103-101 as Smith and Jerome Felton capped a quick 5-0 spurt with 1:47 remaining.

Robinson then made two free throws to increase the home team's edge to five, though Smith answered with a floater over Robinson on the other end to make it 105-103 with 1:16 to play. New York forced a tough missed layup and got the ball back with 18 seconds left.

Anthony created some contact and got to the line and calmly nailed both shots from the charity stripe knotting the contest at 105-105 before Deng's potential game-winner missed poorly off the back board. Anthony got a clean look as the game clock expired, but his shot hit the back rim to force overtime.

The visitors led by five at halftime and created some space with a strong start to the second half as their lead quickly grew to 15 just over the midway point of the third. Pablo Prigioni capped a 18-8 spurt with a driving layup to make it 77-62.

Just as New York looked to take control of the contest, still leading by 15 one minute later, Butler kick started a 16-3 flurry with back-to-back fast break slams. Robinson capped the run with a corner 3-pointer with 2.8 seconds remaining to help the Bulls close the third down just 82-80.

New York led by 12 early in the second. Chicago, though, cut the margin to three with 4:11 remaining in the stanza. The Knicks held a 59-54 lead at the break.

New York opened up the contest on a 23-6 run before the home team chipped its way back by closing the first quarter on a 17-7 swing to cut the deficit to 30-23.
