Recap: Philadelphia vs. Atlanta

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Josh Smith netted 28 points to go with 12 rebounds and the Hawks' bench contributed 53 points as Atlanta took care of the Philadelphia 76ers, 124-101, on Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center.

John Jenkins fell just two points short of his career-high with 21 points, while Jeff Teague registered his 13th double-double of the season with 13 points and 11 assists in the win. Mike Scott added 17 points and nine rebounds.

"I think John (Jenkins) and Mike (Scott) are really starting to find their niche," said coach Larry Drew of his two rookies.

Al Horford added 16 points and nine boards as Atlanta snapped a three-game losing skid. The Hawks now have a 2 1/2 game lead over Boston, which lost to the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday, for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.

Thaddeus Young was the lone bright spot for Philadelphia, which was eliminated from playoff contention earlier this week. He poured in 28 points on 14-of-20 from the floor, and at one point late in the third quarter, had hit half of the Sixers' field goals.

"I just wanted to come out and just show that I have a lot of energy and that I'm still trying to win games," said Young. "I'm still trying to focus in on finishing this season the right way."

Nick Young and Dorell Wright chipped in 19 and 15 points, respectively, off the bench.

The Hawks led 29-27 after a back-and-forth first quarter that saw six lead changes. Jenkins dropped eight of his 21 points in five minutes off the bench.

The second stanza saw significant runs by each team, first a 15-2 surge by Atlanta capped by an Ivan Johnson transition stuff, followed by a Thad Young- led 13-3 push for Philadelphia.

The Hawks held the Sixers to 38 percent shooting in the first half and led 59-51 at the break.

Atlanta opened the third period on an 18-4 run to pull away from the hometown Sixers. All five Hawks' starters got in on the action, while Young was the lone Sixer to muster any points until Jrue Holiday's layup with 5:58 remaining in the period.

Game Notes

Atlanta's Kyle Korver extended his streak of consecutive games with a 3-point field goal to 71 games ... The Hawks shot 53.8 percent from the floor and 18- of-19 from the foul line ... Atlanta had 34 assists... Devin Harris returned to the Hawks' lineup after missing the previous three games with an ankle injury.
