Recap: Washington vs. Toronto

Washington, DC (Sports Network) - Bradley Beal scored 24 points off the bench and led the Washington Wizards to a 109-92 win over the Toronto Raptors on Sunday.

Beal shot 8-of-14 from the field, including 6-of-9 from behind the arc for the Wizards, who stopped a two-game skid. Emeka Okafor had 19 points and 10 rebounds while John Wall scored 18 points and dished out 10 assists in the victory.

"They kept leaving me open and my teammates just kept finding me," said Beal. "I was able to knock down some shots. I stayed confident, and the ball ended up in my hands a lot."

Joan Valanciunas registered 18 points and 10 rebounds for the Raptors, who have lost six of their last seven games. Kyle Lowry and DeMar DeRozan scored 15 points apiece in the setback.

"I thought we came out with a relaxed disposition and didn't come out ready to go," said Raptors coach Dwane Casey. "The guys didn't look like they were ready to move their feet defensively. We had some frustration fouls which kind of set the tone for the course of the game."

After the first quarter, Washington led 27-25.

In the second, the Wizards began to break away. Though Valanciunas scored 10 points in the period, the Raptors shot just 35 percent on the floor.

Meanwhile, the Wizards shot 62.5 percent and outscored the Raptors in the paint by a 24-8 margin. At halftime, Washington's lead was 60-50.

Despite an 8-0 Toronto spurt midway through the third, Washington continued to maintain control.

Beal and Okafor combined for 22 of the Wizards' 30 points in the third, with Beal making four 3-pointers.

Late in the frame, the Wizards extended their lead by as much as 20 points, but the Raptors ended the period on a 10-4 run, capped by Sebastian Telfair making a 39-footer at the buzzer, to cut the deficit to 90-76 entering the fourth.

Toronto began the final quarter on a 10-2 surge, with Gay scoring the last six points of the swing, and Washington's lead was down to six, 92-86, with just over eight minutes left in regulation.

However, it was not enough for the Raptors, as they were outscored 17-6 in the remaining minutes.

Game Notes
