Recap: Atlanta vs. Miami

Atlanta, GA (Sports Network) - Josh Smith scored a team-high 21 points to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 92-79 victory over the defending-champion Miami Heat in the preseason opener for both teams.

Newly acquired Lou Williams had 18 points off the bench and DeShawn Stevenson added 11 points for the Hawks, who were eliminated in the first round of the playoffs last season by Boston.

Chris Bosh scored a game-high 22 points and LeBron James had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists for the Heat, who defeated Oklahoma City in five games to capture its second NBA Championship since the 2005-2006 season.

Miami guard Dwyane Wade did not play as he rests a knee injury.

The Heat took a 26-19 lead after one quarter, but were outscored 28-19 in the second, and Atlanta took a 47-45 advantage into the break.

The Hawks added to their lead in the third to go up 70-66 entering the final quarter before outscoring the Heat 22-13 in the fourth despite shooting just 33.3 percent from the field.
