Recap: Boston vs. New York

Hartford, CT (Sports Network) - Jason Kidd hit a go-ahead jumper with 1:47 remaining in overtime as the New York Knicks spoiled the Boston Celtics' 2012-13 preseason opener with a 98-95 win at the XL Center.

Carmelo Anthony netted a game-high 23 points and Chris Copeland delivered 21 off the bench as the Knicks improved to 2-0 in preseason play. New York posted a 108-101 victory at Washington on Thursday.

Kidd's 23-foot jumper gave the Knicks a 94-93 lead, and the veteran point guard sank two free throws shortly afterward to extend the margin to three.

Boston closed within 96-95 on two Kris Joseph foul shots with 47 seconds left in overtime, but Copeland made two free throws on the other end to seal the win.

The Knicks owned an 86-83 edge with two minutes left in the fourth quarter, but Micah Downs scored for Boston with 1:29 remaining to cut the deficit to one.

The Celtics had a chance to move ahead in the final stages of regulation, but Jared Sullinger made only 1-of-2 foul shots with 16 seconds left to forge an 86-86 tie.

Sullinger paced Boston with 14 points, with Paul Pierce and Jeff Green each contributing 12 in the loss.
