Recap: San Antonio vs. Golden State

San Antonio, TX (Sports Network) - San Antonio stifled the Splash Brothers and Tony Parker carried the load for the Spurs in a dominant second half.

Parker tallied 16 of his 25 points in the second half and added 10 assists in the Spurs' 109-91 win over the Golden State Warriors in Game 5 of this Western Conference semifinal.

Parker was 9-of-16 from the field for San Antonio, which can advance to the Western Conference finals for the eighth time in 15 years with a win in Oakland on Thursday.

The Spurs outscored Golden State 55-40 over the final 24 minutes, when San Antonio recorded 18 points off 11 Warriors turnovers.

"Careless with the basketball," Warriors head coach Mark Jackson said of the second half. "We got out of character on both sides of the ball."

Kawhi Leonard registered 17 points and seven rebounds, Danny Green netted 16 points and Tim Duncan added 14 points and 11 boards in the triumph.

The Spurs recorded 30 assists on 40 made field goals.

"We made shots, the ball movement was good," Parker said. "So hopefully we can do the same thing in Golden State. That's a big key for us ... We have to play Spurs basketball and move their defense."

The potent backcourt duo of Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson were limited to a combined 13 points on 6-of-22 shooting for Golden State, which got 25 points and seven rebounds from Harrison Barnes.

Curry, who had been averaging 26 points per game through the first four games of this set, had nine points. He was 1-of-7 from beyond the arc. Thompson poured in just four points and had been averaging 20 in the series.

Jarrett Jack netted 20 points off the bench in defeat.

The Warriors trailed 54-51 at the break and got within 60-58 after Carl Landry hit a jumper with 9:05 left in the third. San Antonio, though, countered with an 11-2 run to seize control of the tilt.

Green nailed a 3-pointer and after Parker stole the ball from Jack, he fed Green for a two-handed dunk on the fastbreak to cap the surge and up the advantage to 71-60 midway through the frame.

San Antonio took an 83-72 cushion into the fourth, and after Golden State whittled the deficit to 90-82 following a 6-0 spurt with 7:19 to go, the Spurs responded with a 12-2 swing to put the game away.

Parker converted back-to-back buckets before Manu Ginobili capped the burst with a right wing trey to vault San Antonio to a 102-84 margin with 4:04 left.

Earlier, the Warriors held a 15-12 lead midway through the opening frame before the Spurs retaliated as Parker scored six points during a 15-0 run, which Ginobili capped with a three to give the hosts a 27-15 cushion.

San Antonio took a 37-28 advantage into the second, but Golden State charged back into the game after starting the stanza on a 14-7 flurry to get within 44-42.

Game Notes

San Antonio shot 52.6 percent (20-of-38) in the second half ... Ginobili had 10 points off the bench ... Golden State held a 16-9 edge in second-chance points.
