Recap: LA Lakers vs. Denver

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Ty Lawson stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, as the Denver Nuggets edged the Los Angeles Lakers, 97-88, on Sunday in preseason action from Staples Center.

Jordan Hamilton added 15 points off the bench, while JaVale McGee chipped in 12 points and seven boards for the Nuggets, who were playing their preseason opener under new head coach Brian Shaw.

Xavier Henry led the Lakers with 15 points, while Pau Gasol, making his preseason debut, tallied 13 points and Steve Nash dished out six assists for Los Angeles, which won its preseason opener against Golden State on Saturday.

Lakers All-Star Kobe Bryant, who ruptured his Achilles tendon in April, continues to recover from surgery.
