Recap: LA Lakers vs. Portland

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge scored 27 points and pulled down nine rebounds to help the Portland Trail Blazers hold off the Los Angeles Lakers for a 114-108 win on Sunday.

Damian Lillard added 26 points, nine rebounds and five assists and Wesley Matthews scored 17 for the Trail Blazers, winners in 12 of their last 13 games.

"We have to find a way to stay consistent. We weathered the storm and won the game," said Lillard.

Xavier Henry scored 27 points, Jodie Meeks netted 20 and Nick Young finished with 17 points for the Lakers, who had won five of six entering the contest.

"Games like this you just can't give away. You can't start like we did. We weren't quite good enough tonight," said Lakers coach Mike D'Antoni.

The Lakers trailed 94-74 entering the fourth quarter, but used a 24-5 run to pull within one point with 3:40 left.

Aldridge then knocked down a pair of free throws and Lillard buried a three around a Robert Sacre jumper to stretch the Portland lead to 104-100.

After Meeks missed a 3-pointer with 2:15 left, Matthews was fouled on a fast break and converted a pair of free throws for a six-point spread.

Meeks answered with a tough layup, but Matthews canned a trey for a 109-102 lead.

After exchanging misses, Meeks was fouled and knocked down a pair of free throws to make it 109-106 with 40 seconds to go. Lillard split a pair of free throws for a four-point edge, but Young quickly scored to pull the Lakers within two.

Mo Williams was fouled on the ensuing inbounds pass and calmly sunk two from the line to make it a two-possession game with 18.6 seconds left.

Lillard then blocked a Meeks 3-pointer on the other end then made two free throws to seal the win.

Portland opened the game on 19-2 run. Young pulled the Lakers within 10 with his dunk at the 1:56 mark before cutting it to single digits to go into the second frame trailing 32-24.

The Lakers managed to rally back in the second quarter and led by two after a Blake 3-ball, but a 7-2 Portland run to close the half sent the visitors into the break with a 53-50 edge.

The Blazers exploded for 41 points in the third as their lead swelled to 20, 94-74, entering the fourth stanza.

Blazers center Robin Lopez had 12 points and 12 rebounds ... Portland outrebounded LA by a 52-41 margin ... The Lakers outscored the Blazers 44-36 in the paint ... LA point guard Steve Blake had 13 points and nine assists in the setback.
