Recap: Brooklyn vs. Philadelphia

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Pierce made all 14 of his free throws and scored 25 points and the Brooklyn Nets held on to beat the Philadelphia 76ers 108-102 on Monday to snap a three-game losing streak.

It was a game of swings and the Nets held off one final charge.

The Sixers trailed by 15 in the first quarter, had a seven-point lead in the second and were down a game-high 19 in the third quarter. But they got within 104-102 after James Anderson made a 3-pointer from the right corner with 22.7 second left.

But Pierce made two foul shots and Shaun Livingston stole the ball when Sixers point guard Michael Carter-Williams flubbed a pass to Evan Turner at the other end. Livingston then sealed the win with two free throws.

Livingston's steal gave the Nets a season-high 15 in the game and he had a career-high seven.

"Shaun's amazing," said Mirza Teletovic, who made five 3s and had 20 points for the Nets. "He just helps out in every position."

Deron Williams had 21 points for the Nets and Livingston scored 13 with eight assists.

The Sixers turned the ball over 25 times in their third straight loss and fell to 3-13 in their last 16.

"We have to be more responsible with the ball," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "It bites us continually."

Carter-Williams had 21 points to lead Philadelphia, Tony Wroten scored 18 and Thaddeus Young added 17. Carter-Williams had four points in an 11-2 run in the fourth quarter that cut a 16-point Nets lead to single digits.

Nets guard Joe Johnson was out with knee tendinitis and the Sixers probably were glad not to see him. Johnson made 10 3-pointers -- eight in the third quarter -- and scored 37 points in a 130-94 win over Philadelphia in December.

The teams split two games in a five-day span that month.

The Nets had lost three straight games, including the last two in January after going 10-1 to begin the month. That run helped Jason Kidd earn Eastern Conference Coach of the Month honors on Monday.

The first half was full of big swings.

Williams had seven points and he and Pierce hit back-to-back 3s to start Brooklyn on a 16-2 run to open the game. The Sixers trailed by as many as 15 in the first quarter but rallied to take their first lead midway through the second.

An 18-4 Sixers run sparked by Young's 3 staked them to a seven-point edge but the Nets countered with a 17-3 burst and went into halftime with a 54-49 lead. Pierce scored 10 of his 15 first-half points in the surge.

Brooklyn led by 19 with four minutes left in the third quarter on a Williams 3-pointer and went into the fourth with an 84-69 advantage.
