Recap: Washington vs. San Antonio

Washington, DC ( - Tim Duncan poured in a game-high 31 points with 11 rebounds to help the San Antonio Spurs to their 16th consecutive win over the Washington Wizards with a 125-118 decision in double- overtime on Wednesday night.

Duncan fouled out early in the second overtime, but Patty Mills and Danny Green picked up the slack in his place. Mills finished with 23 points and Green contributed 22 points for the Spurs, who have won three straight.

"That's one of the finest wins I've ever been associated with," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said.

Marco Belinelli added 14 points off the bench in the win.

John Wall scored 29 points to pace Washington, which had its two-game winning streak snapped. Bradley Beal had 19 points, Trevor Ariza had 15 points with 10 boards, and Nene added 12 points in the setback.

"We became undisciplined in the second half," Wizards head coach Randy Wittman said.

The Spurs jumped out to a lead to start the first overtime and Martell Webster hit a 3 to cut into the deficit, but Mills made a 15-foot jumper at the other end for a 108-104 lead with 2 1/2 minutes to play.

Marcin Gortat then missed a pair of free throws on Washington's next touch and Mills buried a corner triple to push the margin to 111-104.

Wall made two free throws, then Nene split a pair on the following trip after he stripped Tiago Splitter and was fouled on the fastbreak to cut the deficit to four with 1:11 left.

Duncan hit a jumper and Wall made two straight layups for a two-point deficit, but Belinelli knocked down a pair of free throws with 8.7 seconds left.

Wall made a reverse layup, then stole the ensuing inbounds pass at halfcourt and raced down the floor for a layup to tie the game at 113-113 with 1.9 ticks to force another period.

Mills opened the scoring in the second extra session with a pair of free throws before Nene knotted it back up with a pair of his own.

Belinelli broke a 117-117 tie with a jumper before Green buried a corner 3 to make it a five-point game with 1:16 remaining in the second overtime.

Washington missed all 10 of its field goal attempts in the second overtime and Mills and Green made 3-of-4 from the line in the final minute to continue the Spurs' dominance over the Wizards.

Earlier, San Antonio cut into a double-digit halftime deficit by scoring the first eight points in the third quarter. Cory Joseph made a jumper with 3:48 left in the third for the Spurs' first lead since early in the first.

The lead changed hands a few times over the next couple of minutes and Garret Temple knocked down a jumper to help the Wizards to carry an 83-82 lead to the fourth.

An Ariza dunk staked the Wizards to a 99-94 lead with 2:40 remaining in the fourth, but Mills hit a 3 and Duncan made a jumper to tie the game at 99-99 with just over a minute left to close the scoring in regulation.

Washington outscored San Antonio 33-25 in the first quarter and led 62-48 at halftime.
