Recap: Detroit vs. Brooklyn

Auburn Hills, MI (SportsNetwork.com) - Brandon Jennings flirted with a triple- double on Friday, posting 26 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists, as the Detroit Pistons pounded the Brooklyn Nets, 111-95, at the Palace of Auburn Hills.

Josh Smith stuffed the stat sheet as well, racking up 23 points, eight boards and seven assists for the Pistons, who snapped a two-game slide and beat Brooklyn for the third time this season.

Andre Drummond notched a 16-point, 22-board double-double, Kyle Singler scored 16 and Rodney Stuckey supplied 14 points in the triumph.

"We've been talking about trying to use him wisely," Pistons head coach Maurice Cheeks said of Drummond. "He's been very energetic. Obviously getting 22 rebounds and running the floor, getting up and down the floor and blocking a few more shots."

Jason Terry paced Brooklyn with 18 points, while Joe Johnson netted 16 points for the Nets, who had won two straight.

Paul Pierce's driving layup pulled the Nets within 17-14 with 4:02 left in the first, but Brooklyn went the rest of the quarter without a field goal, allowing Detroit to close the stanza on a 13-3 run.

The Pistons' push continued in the second, as Detroit tallied the first seven points of the period to build a 37-17 lead under two minutes into the quarter.

Andrei Kirilenko's tip-in finally quelled Brooklyn's field-goal drought with 10:04 on the clock, but a Chauncey Billups jumper just over two minutes later found the difference back up to 20.

Detroit carried a 67-44 cushion into the locker room and pushed the margin as high as 29 in the third before taking a 96-73 lead into the fourth.

Despite shooting a woeful 5-of-18 (27.8 percent) over the final 12 minutes, the Pistons were able to hang on for the victory.

"The guys kept playing," Nets head coach Jason Kidd said of his team battling despite being down double digits for the majority of the second half. "The guys who were out there playing continued to execute. We got some stops finally, but the big thing is that we continued to play."

2014-15 Vancouver Canucks Preview

Also gone from Vancouver is general manager Mike Gillis, the man who made the ill-fated decision to fire head coach Alain Vigneault after the 2013 campaign and replace him with Tortorella. All Vigneault did in 2013-14 was take over the reins for Torts with the New York Rangers and lead the Blueshirts to the Stanley Cup Finals.
