Recap: LA Lakers vs. Sacramento

Los Angeles, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - Jordan Farmar drained eight of Los Angeles' franchise-record 19 3-pointers and finished with a career-high 30 points, as the Lakers notched a 126-122 triumph over the Sacramento Kings on Friday at Staples Center.

Farmar went 8-of-10 from distance, while the Lakers shot 70.4 percent as a team from beyond the arc en route to a season-high point total.

"I wanted to be aggressive because we were losing," Farmar said. "We were shooting the ball pretty well tonight."

MarShon Brooks supplied 23 points, while Jodie Meeks scored 22 on 8-of-8 shooting from the floor, including 3-of-3 from long range, for the Lakers, who had lost three straight and seven of their last eight games.

"We shared the ball pretty well," Brooks stated. "Tonight they happened to fall for us."

Pau Gasol also added 22 points and Wesley Johnson chipped in with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Rudy Gay registered a game-high 32 points, while Derrick Williams and Isaiah Thomas each scored 26 for the Kings, who have dropped back-to-back games.

"This was two bad defensive teams," Sacramento head coach Mike Malone admitted. "I was embarrassed about our defense tonight. That defensive effort tonight was unacceptable."

A Thomas triple staked Sacramento to a 92-77 lead with 3:44 left in the third, but Farmar and Brooks combined to outscore the Kings 18-7 over the remainder of the frame to bring the Lakers within four heading into the fourth.

With Sacramento's lead at six early in the final stanza, the Lakers reeled off nine straight points, capped by back-to-back treys from Brooks and Farmar, to take a 108-105 lead with 8:35 left.

The Kings got as close as one after Jason Thompson split two free throws, but Brooks answered with a three-point play at the other end before Johnson added a driving layup to push the spread to 120-114 with four minutes to play.

Sacramento remained within striking distance, but failed to get closer than four the rest of the way, as the Lakers held on for the victory.

Gay and Thomas terrorized the Lakers in the first half, with the Sacramento duo combining for 29 points on 11-of-16 shooting to help the Kings carry a 65-54 advantage into the break.

Meeks and Johnson combined on a 9-2 run midway through the third to get LA within three, but the Kings countered with a 15-3 surge to build a 15-point cushion with under four minutes left in the third.
