Recap: New York vs. Washington

New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Wizards are more than happy to have Bradley Beal back.

Beal netted 14 of his 21 points in the fourth quarter, including a go-ahead layup with 5.9 seconds left as the Wizards topped the New York Knicks 102-101 on Monday night.

With the seconds ticking down, Beal received the ball along the left wing with Beno Udrih on him. Beal quickly drove past him with the left-handed dribble before finishing with an easy layup.

"There was absolutely nobody even paying attention, so I just drove it in there," Beal said of the layup.

Opting not to take a timeout after the Beal bucket, Carmelo Anthony received the ball, but his running 3-pointer over two Washington defenders from the right wing ricocheted off the backboard.

"I probably should've taken the timeout at the end for sure," Knicks head coach Mike Woodson said. "That's on me."

Beal had missed his previous nine tilts with a leg injury.

Martell Webster was 6-of-8 from beyond the arc and finished with 30 points for Washington, which snapped its four-game losing skid. John Wall tallied 20 points, eight assists and six rebounds in the triumph.

Anthony had 32 points, five rebounds and four blocks for the Knicks, who have dropped five of their last seven tilts. J.R. Smith chipped in 18 points in defeat.

The Knicks trailed 92-85 during the middle stages of the fourth before Smith's second triple during a 13-2 surge capped it and put New York in front, 98-94, with 2:17 left.

Beal knocked down two treys, sandwiched around a pair of Andrea Bargnani foul shots, to tie the game at 100-100 with 45.1 ticks on the clock. Udrih split a pair from the foul line to give the Knicks a 101-100 edge with 24.5 seconds to play.

Earlier, the Wizards led 26-21 after a quarter of play and a 9-2 swing to close the half gave Washington a 53-42 cushion heading into the break.

The Knicks outscored Washington 35-22 in the third and took a 77-75 edge into the final frame.
