Recap: Brooklyn vs. Phoenix

Brooklyn, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Deron Williams led all five Brooklyn starters in double figures with 28 points as the Nets defeated the Phoenix Suns, 108-95, on Monday.

Williams shot 11-of-13 from the floor and Mason Plumlee, who was matched up at center to start the game against his older brother Miles, chipped in 14 points and 11 rebounds for the Nets, who won their ninth straight home game. Joe Johnson scored 19 and Shaun Livingston supplied 12 points and five assists.

Markieff Morris and Gerald Green had 18 and 17 points, respectively, in reserve roles for Phoenix. Goran Dragic tallied 13 points and three steals as the Suns' two-game win streak came to an end. Miles Plumlee scored just three points in the setback.

"We just didn't have the effort," Phoenix head coach Jeff Hornacek said. "You hope it's just one of those nights and move on to the next one."

The Nets have now won a franchise-best five straight against the Suns.

A 9-2 spurt that featured a Paul Pierce 3-pointer and a Livingston alley-oop slam gave the Nets an early 13-6 lead. Green hit a three to quell Brooklyn's hot start, but the Nets jumped out to a 30-20 lead heading into the second.

Green threw down a dunk to cap a 6-0 run to get the Suns back within eight, 36-28, with 8:16 remaining. Brooklyn took a 52-38 lead after Williams entered the lane and faked a pass out to the perimeter before dishing to Mason Plumlee, who finished with a layup and then a foul shot to complete the three- point play.

Williams' driving layup gave the Nets a 62-49 lead heading into the break.

The Nets picked up where they left off as they raced out to a 69-51 lead after Johnson supplied his team's first seven points of the second half. Eric Bledsoe's shot from beyond the arc and Morris' five points helped Phoenix get within 10 off a 14-3 run.

Johnson and Pierce responded by hitting triples to ignite a 14-0 Brooklyn outburst.

"We had a lead and we kept it," Brooklyn head coach Jason Kidd said. "(The Suns) kept making runs and we responded."

PJ Tucker's jumper with just over a minute left into the third started an 11-0 burst that carried over into the fourth, but Phoenix never got within 11 the rest of the way.

Game Notes

Nets forward Kevin Garnett missed his ninth straight game due to back spasms ... Williams has gone 15 straight games with a steal and passed Chris Morris to move into sole possession of fourth all-time on the Nets' 3-pointers list ...
