Recap: Atlanta vs. Toronto

Atlanta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Paul Millsap recorded his first career triple-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a 118-113 overtime win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.

Jeff Teague tied his career-high with 34 points for Atlanta, which won its fifth straight to pull within one game of idle Charlotte for seventh place in the Eastern Conference. Kyle Korver added 16 points in the win.

"I can't do it without the team," said Millsap on his triple-double. "They knocked down shots, especially for the assists. They gave me some good looks. I knocked down some shots. It's a great win overall. That's what we're out to get. We're out to win games.

DeMar DeRozan paced Toronto with 29 points to go along with 10 rebounds and Kyle Lowry contributed 20 points, nine assists and seven rebounds in the Raptors' second straight loss.

Jonas Valanciunas scored 16 points, while Amir Johnson and Terrence Ross each chipped in with 11 points for Toronto.

DeRozan hit a pair of free throws to push Toronto in front, 104-103, with 1:39 remaining in the fourth. Korver countered at the other end with a wing 3- pointer to make it a two-point game with 80 seconds left in regulation.

DeRozan then barreled into the lane and was called for a charge on the ensuing Raptors possession. DeMarre Carroll's fadeaway at the other end was off the mark before DeRozan committed another turnover, losing the ball out of bounds on a drive with 33.2 seconds left.

Teague missed a driving layup attempt and DeRozan hauled in the rebound to give the Raptors a chance at the tie. Out of a timeout, Lowry raced down the floor and put up a high-arching layup that banked in to tie the game at 106-apiece with 8.1 seconds left in regulation.

Millsap's try from the top of the key hit the bottom of the backboard and the game headed to overtime.

Pero Antic knocked down a wide-open corner 3 from Millsap to open the extra session, and John Salmons tied it up at 109-109 with a 3 of his own.

Carroll's layup broke the tie with just over 2 1/2 minutes left and neither team had a particularly easy time putting the ball in from there.

Toronto had the ball with under 20 ticks to play in the extra session and trailed by two when Johnson turned the ball over after an offensive foul. Atlanta sealed it at the free throw line to continue its late season surge to maintain its playoff position.

"(In the overtime) we got stops but you got to able to score," said Toronto coach Dwane Casey. "I thought DeMar (DeRozan) did a good job of playing out of the double-team they were committed to, had some open looks, but again, you got to knock those down, you got to make those plays and we had trouble doing that."

Earlier, the Raptors led 13-8 midway the first when they proceeded to go on a 9-1 run for a 22-9 advantage with 3:58 remaining. A Shelvin Mack 3-pointer capped the scoring in the period and cut the deficit to 26-17 after one.

Atlanta grabbed its first lead courtesy of an 8-0 run late in the second that Millsap capped with a pair of free throws for a 49-44 edge with 48.9 second left in the half. Lowry followed with a pair at the line and Steve Novak buried a trey to tie the game at 49-apiece at the break.

Neither team lead by more than four in the third and Atlanta brought an 80-78 lead into the fourth.
