Recap: Philadelphia vs. Atlanta

Philadelphia, PA (SportsNetwork.com) - Mike Scott and Elton Brand each scored 18 points off the bench as the Atlanta Hawks easily handled the Philadelphia 76ers, 125-99, at Wells Fargo Center.

DeMarre Carroll led the Atlanta starters with 13 points to go along with nine rebounds. Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague added 12 points apiece, with the latter adding eight assists in the win.

"I just try to play hard every game. I just try to be one of the guys giving energy every night," said Scott.

Thaddeus Young's 29-point effort went for naught as the Sixers lost for the fifth straight time at home. Michael Carter-Williams added 17 points and Elliot Williams scored a season-high 15 off the bench in defeat.

"It was the poorest performance of our season tonight. It was one of the only times this season I felt the effort wasn't there," said Sixers coach Brett Brown. "As a group, we have no appreciation for playing defense."

Kyle Korver nailed a 3-pointer to give the Hawks a 15-6 lead midway through the first quarter. Young, who scored 16 points in the opening period, later hit two threes during an 11-3 run that cut the deficit to one.

The Hawks then pushed the lead back to eight before Philadelphia's Tony Wroten hit two free throws to close the scoring in the first, with Atlanta up 27-21 heading into the second.

Philadelphia kept it within arms length early in the second quarter, but Scott scored two straight buckets to give the Hawks a 51-41 lead midway through the frame.

The Atlanta lead grew to 14 later in the period after a 7-0 sprint, with ex- Sixer Louis Williams scoring six points during the sequence, but Teague fouled Young while he was shooting a 50-foot heave at the buzzer and the Sixers cut the deficit to 64-52 when Young hit 2-of-3 from the line to close out the half.

Young's 23 points over the first two quarters was a career-high in a half for the Sixers wingman, and he became the first Sixer with 23 points in a half since Williams scored 25 on Nov. 2, 2010.

Young opened the second half with a dunk, but Atlanta followed with an 15-4 run that Carroll capped with a three to help the Hawks to a 79-58 lead.

The Hawks broke the game open a couple of minutes later, courtesy of a 20-2 run that staked the visitors to a 102-70 lead with just over a minute left in the stanza and all but sealed the outcome.
