Recap: Charlotte vs. Washington

Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Kemba Walker tallied 21 points, 10 assists and five rebounds to lead the Charlotte Bobcats to a 100-94 win over the Washington Wizards on Monday.

The Bobcats rode a 19-4 run through the final seven minutes of the game to overtake the Wizards after trailing by 12 early in the fourth quarter. Walker supplied seven points during the go-ahead burst, including Charlotte's last five.

Al Jefferson netted 19 points with 11 rebounds and Chris Douglas-Roberts had 18 points off the bench for the Bobcats, who have won three of five. Cody Zeller chipped in 15 points and eight rebounds.

Bradley Beal had a team-high 20 points and Martell Webster scored 14 points off the bench for the Wizards, who failed to clinch a playoff berth after the Utah Jazz fell to the New York Knicks on Monday.

"When you give a team two to three looks one time down the floor, they're going to make one," said Wizards forward Drew Gooden.

Charlotte trailed 84-72 with 9 1/2 minutes left to play before netting seven straight points to pull within five with 7:41 left on the clock.

The Wizards quickly stretched the margin back to nine under a minute later with the help of a 4-point play by Beal. However, the Bobcats took over the rest of the way.

Charlotte led 34-24 two minutes into the second quarter before the Wizards went on a 31-7 tear to go ahead by 14 points with 1:41 left in the first half. Washington scored the final five points of the period to take a 60-44 lead into the locker room.

"I think we showed we have alot of fight in that locker room. Things didn't go our way in the first half, we didn't have good readiness in the second quarter, they played great. We didn't quit, we fought back and obviously it was a good win," said Bobcats head coach Steve Clifford.

Washington maintained a lead of at least 10 points through the third quarter despite a pair of 6-0 runs from Charlotte. The Bobcats trailed 80-70 heading into the final 12 minutes.

Earlier, the teams exchanged the lead three times in the first quarter, with neither leading by more than seven. The Bobcats carried a 25-20 edge into the second.

Game Notes
