Recap: Portland vs. Phoenix

Portland, OR (SportsNetwork.com) - LaMarcus Aldridge had 19 points and 13 rebounds, Nicolas Batum added 20 points and seven assists and the Portland Trail Blazers defeated the Phoenix Suns 108-87 on Thursday night.

It was Aldridge's 220th career double-double, a new Portland franchise record.

Wesley Matthews posted 14 points and eight rebounds, while Robin Lopez supplied 11 points and 12 boards for the Blazers, who have won back-to-back games on the heels of a 1-5 stretch.

"We were able to pull away in the fourth quarter ... It was a good win against a Western Conference team we have to play a couple more times," Portland coach Terry Stotts said.

Markieff Morris tallied 18 points and eight rebounds and Eric Bledsoe provided 17 points and seven boards for Phoenix, which has dropped five of its last seven contests.

After two Isaiah Thomas free throws got the Suns within 77-73 with 7:54 left, Portland answered with a 15-4 run to put the game away. Two Lopez baskets began the surge and a pair of Damian Lillard layups capped it for a 92-77 advantage with 4:08 to play.

The Blazers led by as many as 25 down the stretch.

A 17-6 Portland first quarter swing helped it build a 25-13 margin before leading 27-15 heading into the second. It was up 46-35 at the break.

Morris poured in seven points during a 16-4 Phoenix burst in the third. Miles Plumlee split a pair of foul shots to finish it off and claw the Suns within 54-53 midway through the third.

Marcus Morris' turnaround jumper in the waning seconds of the frame trimmed the gap to 66-65.

"Towards the fourth, they went on a run and they beat us. We weren't able to get back into the game," Markieff Morris said.
