Recap: Memphis vs. LA Lakers

Memphis, TN ( - Zach Randolph scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help the Memphis Grizzlies earn a 97-90 win over the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

Memphis needed a late comeback to win for the third time in four games. The Grizzlies had four other players reach double figures, led by Marc Gasol with 18 points and Jeff Green with 16.

The Lakers' offense went cold in the closing moments of the game in their fourth straight loss. Jordan Clarkson scored a career-high 25 points, and the Los Angeles reserves provided 44 points.

Ed Davis' dunk three minutes into the final quarter gave the Lakers a 10-point lead, but the Grizzlies gradually chipped away.

At 2:05, Randolph found Nick Calathes cutting on the baseline for a reverse layup, and after a steal at the other end, Green hit a pair of free throws to put Memphis up by one.

Jordan Hill's basket with 20 seconds left ended a 2 1/2 minute scoring drought for Los Angeles, but it was too little, too late. After two Gasol free throws, Mike Conley put the game away by stealing the ball from Clarkson and hitting two free throws.

Clarkson scored 11 points as the Lakers trailed 24-16 after one. He was the only Laker to score until Davis' dunk at 4:47.

The second quarter belonged to Los Angeles. Its defense tightened up and made Memphis miss all seven attempts from long range. Baskets from Wayne Ellington and Wesley Johnson in the final minute gave the Lakers a 46-43 lead at the break.

"I thought we just held the ball a little too much in the second quarter," said Memphis coach David Joerger. "That's partly a product of me messing with the rotation a little bit and trying some different things."

Memphis briefly retook the lead in the third quarter. Out of a timeout, Calathes stole the inbounds pass and laid the ball in to put Memphis up one. Just 11 seconds later, Ellington hit a 3-pointer at the other end to put the Lakers back in front. Tony Allen's layup tied the game, but Ellington again responded on the ensuing possession with another bucket.

For the second straight quarter, the Lakers got four points in the final minute and led 71-67 after three.
