Recap: New Orleans vs. Milwaukee

New Orleans, LA (SportsNetwork.com) - Anthony Davis had 20 points and 12 rebounds as the New Orleans Pelicans edged the Milwaukee Bucks 85-84 on Tuesday night.

Eric Gordon broke an 80-80 tie with a triple at the 1:56 mark of the fourth. Jerryd Bayless sunk two foul shots before Davis knocked down a jumper for an 85-82 New Orleans cushion with 1:07 on the clock.

A pair of Bayless free throws clawed the Bucks within 85-84 with 34.5 seconds left. New Orleans took the clock down at the other end and Gordon's layup didn't drop with just over 10 ticks to play.

Ersan Ilyasova's 3-pointer with a second remaining was off the mark and Tyreke Evans secured the rebound and the outcome.

"It felt like a playoff game," Davis said. "That's how it's going to be from here on out. It's going to be battles.

Quincy Pondexter posted 18 points and seven rebounds, Omer Asik supplied 16 points and 11 boards and Evans provided 12 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for the Pelicans, who have won four of their last five games.

Giannis Antetokounmpo recorded 15 points and nine rebounds, Ilyasova tallied 15 points and eight boards and Zaza Pachulia added 11 points and 11 rebounds for Milwaukee, which has dropped three straight and eight of its last 10 contests.

"We put ourselves in position to win and we just came up one shot short," Bucks coach Jason Kidd said.

Earlier, New Orleans raced out to a 15-0 lead before settling for a 32-21 advantage following a quarter of play. The Bucks, however, outscored the Pelicans 23-10 in the second and held a 44-42 edge at the break.

New Orleans scored the final seven points of the third, as a Norris Cole trey helped it take a 70-62 spread into the fourth.

The Bucks netted eight of the first 11 points of the fourth to get within 73-70 at the midway point of the period.

Game Notes

New Orleans has taken 16 of the last 18 matchups over Milwaukee. The Bucks have dropped 13 consecutive road contests against the Pelicans since winning in their first visit over them on Jan. 27, 2003 ... Milwaukee has lost 13 straight road games overall.
