New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Adam Silver era as NBA commissioner has officially begun.

The NBA posted a picture on its Twitter account Saturday of Silver holding a basketball and shaking hands with David Stern, who retired after exactly 30 years as commissioner.

Silver joined the NBA in 1992 and spent more than eight years as president and COO of NBA Entertainment before becoming deputy commissioner and COO in July 2006.
