Ravens' Kelechi Osemele likely to miss rest of season

Owings Mills, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Baltimore Ravens starting left guard Kelechi Osemele is likely done for the season because of a back injury.

Osemele, who started all seven of the team's games this season, was trying to wait until the offseason to have surgery to repair a disk in his back. Things changed this week when the Ravens discovered "some changes" in his back that need to be treated with more immediacy.

"I think the chances of him playing the rest of this year are probably pretty slim," Ravens coach John Harbaugh said. "There's a good chance he's going to get surgery here real soon. I don't want to say for sure 100 percent because I don't know if I'm authorized to say that, but I would anticipate that right now."

In two seasons with Baltimore, Osemele has started all 23 regular-season games.

The Ravens are expected to turn to veteran lineman A.Q. Shipley, who was acquired by Baltimore from the Colts in an offseason trade.
