Lake Forest, IL (Sports Network) - The Chicago Bears have reached an agreement with Matt Cavanaugh, naming him their quarterbacks coach.

Cavanaugh was the Bears offensive coordinator in 1997 and 1998 and has 21 years of coaching experience overall, including 15 seasons in the NFL. He spent the last four seasons in New York working with Mark Sanchez and helping the Jets to a pair of AFC Championship Game appearances.

The University of Pittsburgh product served as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at his alma mater from 2005-08 after working as the Baltimore Ravens offensive coordinator for six years, including the franchise's Super Bowl XXXV victory in after the 2000 season.

As a player, Cavanaugh won two Super Bowl titles as a backup quarterback with the New York Giants (XXV) and San Francisco 49ers (XIX) and also led Pitt to the 1976 National Championship.

The Bears also named Skip Peete running backs coach. Peete has spent the last 15 seasons as an NFL running backs coach, including the past six with the Dallas Cowboys.
