Allen Park, MI (Sports Network) - Ndamukong Suh said Wednesday he is appealing the NFL's decision to fine him $100,000 for a low block.

The star Detroit Lions defensive tackle spoke to reporters a day after the league penalized him for a block to the legs on Minnesota Vikings center John Sullivan during an interception return by Lions linebacker DeAndre Levy on Sunday.

"It's going through the appeals process and we'll go from there," Suh said.

Suh was whistled for an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty after he hit Sullivan in the knees. Levy easily would have scored on the play without the illegal block.

The Lions won the game 34-24.

Suh said he understands the NFL is concerned about player safety and players have to respect that. He said he spoke to Sullivan as the teams headed to the locker rooms at halftime.

Suh has been fined numerous times for his play on the field and even met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell about it during the 2011 season. Suh was suspended two games in 2011 after stomping on the arm of Green Bay's Evan Dietrich-Smith during a Thanksgiving game.
