Jacksonville, FL (Sports Network) - Jacksonville Jaguars starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert will miss Sunday's game against the Oakland Raiders due to a laceration on his throwing hand he sustained in the team's season opener.

Gabbert needed 15 stitches to close the wound on his right hand, the result of hitting a Kansas City defender's facemask during the latter stages of Sunday's 28-2 home loss to the Chiefs.

Veteran Chad Henne will fill in for Gabbert, who completed just 16-of-35 passes for 121 yards and was intercepted twice by the Chiefs, one of which was returned for a touchdown. The maligned former first-round pick was also sacked six times, with the Jacksonville offense mustering a meager 178 total yards for the game.

The injury is the latest setback in what's been a rough start to Gabbert's career. The 20-year-old has hit on just 53.4 percent of his passes with 21 touchdowns and 19 interceptions in 26 games since ex-Jaguars general manager Gene Smith traded up in the 2011 draft to grab him with the 10th overall pick, and Gabbert missed the final six contests of last season after tearing the labrum in his left shoulder. The Jaguars have won only five of the 25 games in which he's started.

Henne took over as the starter following Gabbert's injury and also struggled, recording a 53.9 completion rate with 2,084 passing yards, 11 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 10 overall games during the 2012 campaign.

Jacksonville also incurred two other injuries of note in Sunday's setback. Rookie cornerback Dwayne Gratz, making his first career start, hurt his ankle and will be sidelined at least three weeks. Left guard Will Rackley aggravated a previous knee problem during the game and is still undergoing an evaluation, with the Jaguars stating his status will be updated on Wednesday.
