New York, NY (Sports Network) - Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson and kicker Blair Walsh, along with Washington Redskins linebacker London Fletcher have been named NFC players of the month for December.

Peterson snagged offensive honors by finishing with 861 yards -- most ever in one month for a single player in league history -- and six touchdowns, all but one rushing in December. He averaged 172.2 yards-per-game during the month, and concluded the season with 2,097 rushing yards, eight shy of Eric Dickerson's record set in 1984.

Fletcher took home the defensive award after compiling 51 tackles, three interceptions and two sacks for the 5-0 Redskins, who won their first NFC East title since 1999. The first Washingtonian to be named player of the month since Clinton Portis in October 2008, Fletcher was the only defensive player in the league to post at least three picks and two sacks.

Walsh captured the special teams honor by totaling 47 points in the month of December courtesy of making 11-of-12 field goals -- including a perfect 10- for-10 from 50-plus yards, and connecting on 14 points after touchdown. The Georgia product joined Fuad Reveiz and Gary Anderson as the lone Minnesota kickers to be named top monthly special teamer.
