(SportsNetwork.com) - New England Patriots linebacker Jerod Mayo reportedly underwent surgery for a torn pectoral muscle and could be sidelined for the remainder of the season.
Various reports indicated that Mayo had the procedure Tuesday and Yahoo! Sports said the injury could keep the Patriots' leading tackler out for the duration of the year.
Mayo was hurt during this past Sunday's game against New Orleans. The two-time Pro Bowl selection leads the Patriots with 55 tackles this season.
New England has already lost star defensive lineman Vince Wilfork for the season because of an Achilles' tendon injury.
