Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots placed rookie wide receiver Josh Boyce on injured reserve Thursday, while signing fellow wideout Austin Collie to a third tour of duty with the team this season.
Boyce, New England's fourth-round selection in last April's NFL Draft, missed the Patriots' final two regular-season games with an ankle injury. The 22- year-old recorded nine catches for 121 yards over nine contests during his debut campaign.
Collie initially signed with New England on Oct. 3 and spent a month on the club's active roster before being released. The Pats re-signed him on Dec. 5, but again cut him loose after three games.
The fifth-year pro has caught six passes for 63 yards in seven games for New England this season. Collie compiled 172 receptions with Indianapolis over his first three NFL seasons, but was limited to just one game in 2012 due to a series of concussions.
