Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Eagles on Wednesday placed rookie quarterback Nick Foles on injured reserve and signed defensive tackle Antonio Dixon to a two-year contract.

Foles broke his hand during last Sunday's loss to the Washington Redskins.

Over seven games (six starts) this season, Foles threw for 1,699 yards with six touchdowns and five interceptions.

Michael Vick will start for the Eagles against the New York Giants on Sunday.

Dixon spent three seasons in Philadelphia (2009-11) before playing in two games for the Indianapolis Colts this season. The Colts released him on Oct. 29.

In 37 career contests with the Eagles and Colts, Dixon has 51 tackles and three sacks.

Philadelphia also signed linebacker Marcus Dowtin to the practice squad.
