Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Being familiar with Chip Kelly didn't help Dennis Dixon make the Philadelphia Eagles.
The former Oregon quarterback was one of 12 players cut by Kelly -- Dixon's offensive coordinator in Eugene -- and the Eagles on Friday.
Philadelphia also released the following 11 players: linebackers Everette Brown and Adrian Robinson, veteran defensive tackle Antonio Dixon, rookie defensive end David King, a 2013 seventh-round draft pick out of Oklahoma, quarterback G.J. Kinne, offensive linemen Matt Kopa, Dallas Reynolds and Matt Tennant, cornerback Trevard Lindley and wide receivers Ifeanyi Momah and Will Murphy.
The team also placed rookie defensive end Joe Kruger on the injured reserve list with a shoulder injury suffered in Philadelphia's preseason loss to the New York Jets on Thursday.
The Eagles roster now stands at 62 players. All NFL teams are required to cut down to 53 players by 6 pm ET on Saturday, August 31.
