Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh underwent a procedure Thursday for an irregular heartbeat.

The 49ers said Harbaugh was at Stanford Hospital for the minor procedure and expect him to return to the team's headquarters on Friday as the club continues preparations for Monday's game against Chicago.

"We anticipate that he will be back at the facility (Friday), but do not have any further information to share at this time," the team's statement read. "Assistant head coach and special teams coordinator Brad Seely will be overseeing (Thursday's) practice and meetings. When more information regarding coach Harbaugh is available we will pass that along."

The 49ers are 6-2-1 and coming off a tie on Sunday against St. Louis.
