Renton, WA (SportsNetwork.com) - Marcus Trufant, who spent 10 seasons with the Seattle Seahawks, announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday.

Trufant re-signed with the Seahawks on Wednesday so he could retire as a Seahawk.

"I'm not sad," Trufant said. "It's just a chapter that's closing. This is a happy time. I'm excited to see what comes next."

Trufant, 33, a Washington State product and first-round draft pick in 2003, played in 12 games in his final season in 2012, starting just two. He signed with Jacksonville in May of last year, but was released before playing in a regular season game with the Jaguars.

A 2007 Pro Bowl selection, Trufant started 125 games with the Seahawks and finished his career with 638 tackles and 21 interceptions. He returned two interceptions for touchdowns and also recorded 113 passes defensed, two sacks, five forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.
