St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The National Football League fined a total of five players six times for their actions in last Sunday's game between the Panthers and Rams, with St. Louis defensive end Jake Long and Carolina safety Mike Mitchell handing over the largest sums.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Friday that Long was fined $15,750 for throwing a punch during a third quarter scuffle that involved a number of players from both sides. Long was penalized and ejected for his actions.

Mitchell, on the other hand, wasn't penalized for taunting during the game, but after the league reviewed the contest, the Carolina safety was slapped with a pair of $7,875 fines to match Long's total.

Wide receivers Steve Smith of the Panthers and Brian Quick of the Rams were each handed a $7,875 fine for striking an opponent in the face.

St. Louis offensive guard Harvey Dahl was docked the same amount for a late hit on Carolina linebacker Luke Kuechly in the fourth quarter.
