The Redskins found the end zone in the second quarter to go up 13-0. Cousins connected with Anthony Armstrong for 46 yards to put Washington on Tampa Bay's 14. Royster took one around the right end for 13 yards before breaking the goal line on the next play.

Cousins was intercepted by Sean Baker in the third quarter, but Washington got it right back when Richard Crawford picked off Ratliff. Cousins found Brandon Banks streaking down the sideline for 47 yards, and Helu found the end zone on the next play with a 15-yard touchdown run.

Tampa Bay finally got on the board with 6:52 remaining in the third when Kai Forbath sent one through the uprights from 43 yards out.
