Recap: NY Jets vs. NY Giants

East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Ryan Nassib threw three touchdown passes and the New York Giants rallied past their crosstown rival Jets, 35-24, on Friday in preseason action.

Nassib went 8-for-12 with 103 yards in relief of Eli Manning, who was under center for the Giants in the first half and completed 12-of-21 passes for 139 yards and a touchdown.

Rashad Jennings gained 67 yards on 13 carries for the G-Men while Victor Cruz picked up 61 yards through the air on four receptions.

All three quarterbacks who played for the Jets threw a TD, while the trio combined to connect on 22-of-33 passes. Geno Smith threw for 137 yards, Michael Vick picked up 35 and Matt Simms had 106.

After the game, Jets head coach Rex Ryan officially named Smith the starter for the regular season opener.

The Jets jumped in front, 10-0, as Nick Folk opened the scoring with a 31-yard field goal late in the first quarter and Smith found Jace Amaro wide open in the back of the end zone for a short TD pass early in the second.

The Giants offense got very little going in the first half until Manning executed a two-minute drill that led to a score. Manning completed seven passes on the 11-play, 91-yard drive and found Rueben Randle for a 15-yard touchdown moments before halftime to send the Giants into the locker room trailing 10-7.

Vick lost a fumble just two plays into the second half, and it led to Nassib's 3-yard touchdown pass to fullback Henry Hynoski on the ensuing Giants possession. Vick responded on the next series, leading an 11-play drive and finding Eric Decker for a 3-yard score to put the Jets back in front.

Later in the third, Nassib went deep for Preston Parker for a 39-yard touchdown pass.

After Greg Salas hauled in an 11-yard strike from Simms to make it 24-21 in favor of the Jets early in the fourth, Andre Williams capped a 75-yard trek with a short TD plunge. Corey Washington's 31-yard touchdown reception from Nassib accounted for the final margin.
