Recap: Baltimore vs. Tennessee
Baltimore, MD (SportsNetwork.com) - Justin Forsett rushed for 112 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 20 carries and the Baltimore Ravens posted a 21-7 win over the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
Joe Flacco finished 16-of-27 for 169 yards and one score to Torrey Smith for the Ravens (6-4), who shook off a pair of road division losses to Cincinnati and Pittsburgh.
"Going into the bye, you want to feel good about things and get back on track," Ravens tight end Owen Daniels said. "It was huge for us today."
Zach Mettenberger also completed 16 of his 27 attempts for one touchdown and a late interception for the Titans (2-7), who have dropped three in a row since beating Jacksonville.
Bishop Sankey was limited to 58 yards on 17 carries for Tennessee, while Leon Washington posted his club's lone TD.
Baltimore's first two possessions ended in punts and the Titans offense moved the ball deliberately, so the hosts' third drive didn't begin until more than four minutes elapsed in the second quarter. Forsett's 9-yard TD run capped a 46-yard, eight-play series and tied the game with 6:43 remaining in the period.
Neither team produced more points despite two more turns with the football, and Flacco was sacked on the final play of the first half.
After punting to start the second half, Baltimore picked up five first downs on its second drive of the third quarter. The Ravens took a 14-7 lead on Forsett's 11-yard dash to cap a march which bled almost six minutes off the clock.
The Ravens assumed a 21-7 edge on the fourth play of the final quarter, with Flacco finding Smith along the left sideline for a 32-yard TD connection.
Danny Gorrer picked off Mettenberger at his own 46 late in the fourth, taking it to the Titans' 39-yard line. Forsett's 37-yard jaunt up the middle on the last play before the two-minute warning sealed the outcome.
"He did some good things today, made some good throws," Titans head coach Ken Whisenhunt said of Mettenberger. "I think he did a nice job of operating today in this environment, which is not easy. But obviously, we have to be more productive."
Forsett took one final handoff and Flacco knelt twice to kill the remaining time.
The Titans' opening drive of the game worked 8:12 off the clock and moved from their own 20 down to the Ravens' 1-yard line. On 2nd-and-goal, Shonn Greene lost the football and replay determined he was not down by contact before Haloti Ngata stripped the ball away.
The Ravens' offense did nothing on its first touch, then the visitors produced the game's first score on the following series as Washington hauled in a pass from Mettenberger from three yards away.Game Notes
