Washington, DC (SportsNetwork.com) - Chicago Bears wide receiver Josh Morgan was arrested early Sunday morning following an alleged altercation outside a Washington, D.C., nightclub.
"We are aware of Josh Morgan's presence at a weekend incident in Washington, D.C.," the Bears said in a statement. "We are currently gathering information to learn more about the circumstances surrounding the event."
Morgan, who signed a one-year contract with the Bears on April 21, was charged with misdemeanor simple assault after allegedly punching a valet driver in the mouth, according to WRC-TV.
Morgan told the TV station, "I'm not worried about nothing. I know I didn't do anything wrong."
The valet driver told WRC-TV his mouth was bloodied by the alleged attack, which he said came after he looked at two women who arrived with Morgan at Cities Restaurant and Lounge.
The driver said he didn't recognize Morgan, who played for the Redskins the past two seasons.
Morgan, 28, spent the first four years of his career with the San Francisco 49ers, who picked him in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. He has 199 catches for 2,488 yards and 11 touchdowns in 79 career games.
