Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - The Cincinnati Bengals activated defensive tackle Pat Sims off the physically unable to perform list Friday, with the expectation that the veteran lineman will play in this weekend's game against the New York Giants.

Sims, a member of Cincinnati's defensive line rotation in each of the past four seasons, had been sidelined since training camp with a hamstring injury. The 26-year-old also had his 2011 campaign cut short after only 11 games after tearing ligaments in his ankle last November.

A third-round pick of the Bengals in 2008, Sims has played in 52 games and made 23 starts in his pro career.

To make room on the 53-man roster, Cincinnati waived reserve linebacker Roddrick Muckelroy.

In other team injury news, starting safety Reggie Nelson is doubtful for Sunday's matchup with the Giants after hurting his hamstring during last weekend's loss to Denver. Rookie cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick, who made his NFL debut against the Broncos after missing the Bengals' first seven games with a preseason knee issue, did not practice on Friday and is listed as questionable.

Center Jeff Faine (hamstring) was a limited participant on Friday and is also questionable, while leading rusher BenJarvus Green-Ellis (illness) is probable to play.
