Cincinnati, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis has agreed to a one-year contract extension through the 2015 season.

Lewis is entering his 12th season with the Bengals and is the longest-tenured coach in club history. He is also currently the second-longest tenured coach in the NFL. Only New England's Bill Belichick has been with his current team longer.

"I'm blessed to continue to do a job I love here in Cincinnati, and with the Bengals organization," Lewis said in a statement Friday. "I truly appreciate the commitment by our management to continue to enable us to build an NFL championship team."

The Bengals were 11-5 in 2013 and captured the AFC North for the third time under Lewis, who has a record of 90-85-1 in Cincinnati. The club has reached the playoffs in each of the last three years and five times with Lewis at helm.

"Marvin has earned this commitment for the job he is doing," said Bengals president Mike Brown in Friday's release. "We are one of only five teams to qualify for the playoffs the last three years, and our prospects are bright looking ahead. Marvin is driven to achieve more, and we are happy to secure his leadership of our team beyond the coming season."

Despite the regular-season success, the Bengals are 0-5 in the postseason under Lewis. Cincinnati hasn't won a playoff game since the 1990 season.
