East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - In an effort to add secondary depth, the New York Giants brought in a pair of players Thursday that included one familiar face.

Cornerback Aaron Ross will be rejoining the Giants following a one-year hiatus from his original team, while Big Blue also brought in former Pittsburgh safety Ryan Mundy on an undisclosed contract.

Ross, New York's first-round selection in the 2007 draft, was a starter on two Super Bowl champion teams during his five-year tenure with the team and recorded career-highs of 60 tackles, four interceptions and 12 passes defensed in 2011. The 30-year-old was not re-signed by the Giants following that season, however, and subsequently inked a three-year deal with the Jacksonville Jaguars last March.

The Jaguars released Ross last week, though, following a disappointing 2012 campaign in which he had just three passes defensed and no interceptions while starting nine of 14 games.

Mundy had spent each of his first four NFL seasons with the Steelers and compiled 130 tackles and one interception in a reserve role. The 28-year-old is expected to back up returnees Stevie Brown and Antrel Rolle at the safety spots after the Giants lost former first-round pick Kenny Phillips to the rival Philadelphia Eagles through free agency earlier on Thursday.
