East Rutherford, NJ ( - The New York Giants placed running back David Wilson on injured reserve Thursday.

Wilson last played against the Philadelphia Eagles on Oct. 6 and has been sidelined since with a herniated disk in his neck. He carried the ball 44 times for 146 yards and one touchdown in five games prior to the injury.

The Virginia Tech product was the Giants' first round draft choice in 2012. He played in all 16 games with two starts last season, ending his rookie campaign with 71 carries for 358 yards and four touchdowns. Wilson entered this year as the starter, but saw his playing time diminish after he lost two fumbles in New York's Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.

Running back Andre Brown was activated from the injured reserve designated to return list to replace Wilson. The fifth-year pro rushed for 385 yards and eight touchdowns on 73 attempts over 10 games last season before fracturing his fibula on Nov. 25. He broke the bone in the same area during the preseason.

The Giants also placed defensive tackle Shaun Rogers on injured reserve with a knee issue. Rogers, a 13-year veteran with 130 starts in 163 games played, has 37 1/2 sacks and 379 tackles in his career and started in two of his seven appearances this year.

Defensive tackle Markus Kuhn was activated from the physically unable to perform list to take Rogers' place. The 2012 seventh-round pick was recovering from a torn ACL sustained in November of last year.

Kuhn played in 10 games as a rookie and had 14 tackles and three passes defensed before the injury.
