Hurricanes assign Sutter to Charlotte

Raleigh, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - Carolina Hurricanes general manager Jim Rutherford announced Monday that forward Brett Sutter has cleared waivers and has been assigned to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League.

Sutter has not recorded a point in 12 games with Carolina this season, averaging 6:56 of ice time.

The Viking, Alberta native has played in 49 NHL games over six seasons with Calgary and Carolina, totaling one goal, four assists, and 36 penalty minutes.

Carolina will host the Philadelphia Flyers on Tuesday at PNC Arena.
