Newark, NJ (Sports Network) - The New Jersey Devils made it official on Tuesday and announced the signing of veteran forward Jaromir Jagr.

Terms were not disclosed, but various reports on Monday indicated it to be a one-year contract. The Bergen Record said the deal is worth $2 million in salary with an additional $2 million available in bonuses.

Jagr spent the truncated 2013 season with the Dallas Stars and Boston Bruins. He was acquired by Boston prior to the trade deadline last spring and helped the Bruins to the Stanley Cup Finals with 10 assists in 22 playoff games.

The 41-year-old Czech native combined for 16 goals and 19 assists for 35 points in 45 games during the regular season in 2013. He will join his fourth team in three years since returning to the NHL for the 2011-12 campaign, which he spent in Philadelphia.

Jagr also played for the Penguins, Capitals and Rangers in his first 17 NHL seasons before heading to Russia after the 2007-08 campaign. He played three seasons in the Kontinental Hockey League before coming back to the NHL with the Flyers.

A five-time NHL scoring champion during his time in Pittsburgh, Jagr has 681 goals and 1,688 points in 1,391 regular-season games. He won the Hart Trophy as regular-season MVP with the Penguins in 1999 and won a pair of Stanley Cup titles in his first two seasons in Pittsburgh.

Jagr is eighth in NHL history in points, 10th in goals and 12th in assists (1,007).

The Devils are trying to fill a scoring void after Ilya Kovalchuk decided to retire from the NHL earlier this month. Kovalchuk wanted to remain home in Russia and left the 12 years and $77 million remaining on his contract, opting to play with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL.
