Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Penguins acquired forward Chad Kolarik from the New York Rangers in exchange for forward Benn Ferriero on Thursday.

Kolarik earned a spot in Monday night's AHL All-Star Classic with 16 goals and 19 assists in 41 games for the Connecticut Whale this season. He will report to Pittsburgh's AHL affiliate, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins.

The 26-year-old Kolarik made his NHL debut with the Columbus Blue Jackets during the 2009-10 season, but played in just two games. He also appeared in four games with the Rangers in 2010-11.

Kolarik missed the entire 2011-12 season following a knee injury in training camp.

Ferriero has 14 goals and eight assists in 92 career games with the Sharks.

In addition, the Penguins acquired a conditional draft pick in 2013 from the Dallas Stars in exchange for defenseman Carl Sneep.
