San Jose, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - The San Jose Sharks have given associate coach Larry Robinson the added title of director of player development.

Robinson has served as an assistant under Todd McLellan the past two years. His expanded role will aid the development of Sharks' players and prospects.

"Larry is one of the most respected minds in hockey and we are thrilled to continue having him involved with our organization," said Sharks general manager Doug Wilson.

Robinson joined the Sharks in the summer of 2012 after serving as an assistant with New Jersey. The Devils reached the Stanley Cup Finals in his final year and haven't reached the playoffs since.

The 1995 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee has also served as a head coach in the NHL with the Devils and Los Angeles Kings. He led New Jersey to the 2000 Stanley Cup championship and the Cup Finals the following spring.

Robinson was also a six-time Stanley Cup winner as a player with the Montreal Canadiens and Kings.
