New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The National Hockey League issued a three-game suspension to Vancouver Canucks forward Zack Kassian on Friday.

Kassian was given a major penalty for boarding as well as a game misconduct late in the first period of Dallas' 6-1 thrashing of Vancouver on Thursday, after issuing an illegal check to Stars defenseman Brenden Dillon.

It's the second time supplemental discipline has been handed out to Kassian this season. He was sidelined for the remainder of the preseason (3 games) as well as the first five regular-season contests for delivering a cross-check to the face of Edmonton's Sam Gagner in late September.

The force of the blow was enough to break Gagner's jaw, knock out several teeth, and leave him out of action to start the season.

As a repeat offender, the suspension is tied to Kassian's average annual salary. He will lose $32,103.66 which automatically goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund.

The 23-year-old winger will not be eligible to return until Vancouver's contest in Washington on March 14, missing games with Calgary, the New York Islanders and Winnipeg.
