Capitals give Erskine another two-year extension

Arlington, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Capitals stayed busy on Monday, signing defenseman John Erskine to a two-year contract extension worth $3.925 million.

Erskine, who has one goal and one assist with 31 hits and 19 blocked shots in 11 games for Washington this season, will earn $1.925 million next season and $2 million in 2014-15.

The 32-year-old veteran, who was signed to a two-year extension in December of 2010, has appeared in 435 career NHL games with Dallas, the New York Islanders and Washington, recording 12 goals and 34 assists along with 788 penalty minutes.

Earlier Monday, the Caps locked up goaltender Braden Holtby with a two-year extension.
