Recap: Calgary vs. Vancouver

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Jarome Iginla scored the eventual game-winner in the third period as the Calgary Flames took a 4-2 victory over the Vancouver Canucks at Scotiabank Saddledome.

Mike Cammalleri scored two goals, including an empty-netter that was set up by Lee Stempniak, who also lit the lamp to help snap Calgary's two-game skid.

Daniel Taylor earned his first career win in his second start with 29 saves.

"It's a big moment, first [NHL] victory, he'll remember it for a long time," Flames head coach Bob Hartley said of Taylor.

Jannik Hansen scored a goal and set up Chris Higgins' tally, and Roberto Luongo made 21 saves for the Canucks, who have dropped three of four.

Stempniak tied things at 2-2 when he took Matt Stajan's centering feed and fired into the back of the net at the 6:15 mark of the second period.

The Canucks, who flew into Calgary only a few hours before the game due to a snow storm, were cited for an abuse of officials penalty with 9:25 remaining in regulation.

"That penalty that was given to me," Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault said. "All I did was stand on the bench and say, 'That's an elbow.'"

One second after that penalty expired, Iginla sent a pass in front at an odd angle, and the puck somehow got past Luongo. Jiri Hudler was originally credited with the goal as he provided traffic in front.

Vancouver's attempt at a comeback took a hit when Hansen was sent off for slashing with 1:18 to go. Daniel Sedin shot wide on a scoring chance in the final minute, and Cammalleri sealed things with 23 seconds on the clock.

Hansen, whose wife gave birth to twin boys early Sunday morning, sent Higgins in on a breakaway early on, and Higgins went top shelf at the 7:49 mark.

Cammalleri evened things with 4:16 left in the opening period with a long shot off Luongo's glove, and Hansen swatted one in from out of the air 2:36 into the middle stanza to put the Canucks back in front.

Game Notes

The Canucks had won eight of their previous 11 versus the Flames ... Hudler recorded two assists ... Iginla passed Theo Fleury for sole possession of 59th place on the NHL's all-time scoring list with 1,089.
