Recap: Calgary vs. San Jose

Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Miikka Kiprusoff returned from an MCL sprain to post 32 stops as the Calgary Flames took a 4-1 victory over the San Jose Sharks on Wednesday.

Kiprusoff had been out since Feb. 5 when he suffered a Grade 2 MCL sprain, but he was activated off injured reserve prior to the game and helped the Flames to their second straight win.

"He was solid right from the get-go," said Calgary head coach Bob Hartley about Kiprusoff. "He wanted to be ready for tonight and he was."

Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist while Curtis Glencross, Roman Cervenka and Blake Comeau each scored for Calgary, which has won four straight at home.

Joe Thornton had the lone goal of the game for the Sharks, who had won three of four coming in. Thomas Greiss gave up three goals on 25 shots in the loss.

With the score tied in the third, Calgary went on top at the 2:57 mark as Comeau's wrister from the right circle on the fly kicked off the stick of Matt Irwin and sailed into the net.

"I thought the Comeau goal was a bit of a backbreaker," Sharks head coach Todd McLellan said.

A turnover in the San Jose end less than two minutes later saw the Flames get some breathing space as Iginla buried the gift from the slot for his seventh of the year.

San Jose got a power play with 2:31 to play and pulled Greiss for a 6-on-4, but Lee Stempniak cleared the puck and Glencross tapped it into the open net to seal the win.

Cervenka scored at the 4:27 mark of the first period to give the Flames a 1-0 lead, but the Sharks tied it with 6:07 to play in the second after Joe Pavelski stole the puck along the deep right boards and centered it where Thornton pushed the puck in for his fifth of the season.
