Recap: Dallas vs. Chicago

Dallas, TX (Sports Network) - Marian Hossa scored the winner 1:41 into overtime as Chicago stayed perfect with a 3-2 victory over Dallas on Thursday.

In the extra session on the power play after Brenden Morrow was called for interference, Hossa sent a pass from the right boards over to the left circle for Patrick Kane, who then sent it back over to the right with a turnaround backhand pass and Hossa one-timed it in for the win.

"That was obviously a great play by Patrick Kane," said Hossa. "I saw him wide open there, and when he didn't have a shot, as soon as he turned around I tried to get open. He sees the ice really well, even behind him, so he made a great a great backhand pass to me and I tried to just wire it."

Patrick Sharp had a goal and two assists while Jonathan Toews also lit the lamp for the Blackhawks, who are off to their best start since beginning the 1972-73 season with four straight wins. Corey Crawford made 21 stops in the victory.

Loui Eriksson and Ray Whitney each lit the lamp for the Stars, who had won two of three on the season coming in. Kari Lehtonen gave up all three goals on 41 shots.

"You know, the only reason we got a point was because of him," said Dallas head coach Glen Gulutzan about Lehtonen. "Got out played all night. Our goalie was real good."

During the game, the Stars announced that they signed center Jamie Benn to a five-year contract worth $26.25 million.

It appeared the first period was going to end scoreless, but the Stars got a shorthanded goal when a blocked shot was poked into the neutral zone by Derek Roy where Eriksson caught up to the puck and slipped it between the pads of Crawford with just 0.6 seconds showing on the clock.

Ryan Grabutt was awarded a penalty shot at the 3:33 mark of the second period when he was tripped up by Brent Seabrook on a breakaway, but his backhander was stopped by Crawford.

Dallas did, though, take a 2-0 lead at the 10:41 mark of the second period when a turnover at the left point saw Cody Eakin send the puck down to the front where Whitney was all alone for a backhander into the net.

Chicago got on the board five minutes later on the power play thanks to a lucky bounce. Sharp had the puck to the left of the net and was trying to throw it over to the other side, but it went off the stick of Trevor Daley and snuck past Lehtonen to make it a 2-1 game.

The Blackhawks tied the game with another power-play goal. Sharp held the puck at the right point and fired a hard pass to the left circle where Toews snapped a shot that beat Lehtonen to the short side with 5:53 left in regulation.
